Shut the Box is a game rapidly increasing in popularity. It can be played for fun or as a wager game for money. In wagering games, players contribute a dollar or more per game played. The winning player (person with the fewest points) takes the pot.
The rules of play are simple. Each box features the numbers 1-12 with wooden "keys" in front of each number. Simply roll the dice and add the numbers on each dice together. You can either close the key over the exact number that matches, or close multiple keys that add up to the number rolled.
For example, if you roll a "2" on one die and a "6" on the other, you could either close off the number "8" or the "6" and the "2". Each player continues to roll the dice and close keys until they can no longer make any moves. Their turn is then over, and any open keys count as points. The object of the game is to have the lowest score possible. The player with the least amount of points after everyone has taken a turn wins.
